Script Analysis for the Actor
This online class explores written material for film and how an actor can best interpret visual information . Scripts are written to be seen not heard and the way an actor reads a script and organizes its information is paramount to their success. This course will provide real tools and techniques for reading , organizing and interpreting a screenplays information. How to prepare that information so that the characters mind informs the actors body. Some of the topics covered are:
- How to read a script vs a play( compare and contrast )
- Structure of a script and it’s mechanics ( film scripts )
- Disclosing the text ( rules to breaking down a scene for a film vs a play )
- How character is revealed in a film script and tools to personalize that information .
- Story Arc and Timeline.
- Continuity
This course runs for 12 weeks and is offered once a year. It is for actors . Not writers. Enrollment is limited and Permission by instructor is required.
